Holden Racing Team Commodores inside the top 10 at the conclusion of Friday practice

The Holden Racing Team has both its VE Commodores inside the top 10 at the conclusion of Friday practice at the Dick Smith Sandown 500.

With the track condition affected by rain, reigning Bathurst 1000 Champions, Garth Tander and Nick Percat worked through their pre-planned setup program designed to further develop the positive progress made at the most recent event in Sydney.

Despite the #2 HRT Commodore setting the eighth fastest time in the day’s combined results, both drivers admit there is work to be done to close the gap before tomorrow afternoon’s qualifying races.

HRT team-mates James Courtney and Cam McConville found themselves 10 th on the combined results sheet and happy with the overall balance of car #22, McConville having posted the second quickest time in the co-drivers only session.

The Dick Smith Sandown 500 continues tomorrow with Practice 4 at 9:40am followed Qualifying at 11:40am and then Qualifying Race 1 at 2:45pm and Qualifying Race 2 at 4:38pm.

Garth Tander, #2 Holden Racing Team Holden VE Commodore Series II:

“The day started reasonably well and we showed some good speed early on. After looking at the car at the end of practice, we’ve identified a few issues which hampered our progress. Once we get on top of these overnight, we should be in a better position come tomorrow morning.”

Nick Percat, #2 Holden Racing Team Holden VE Commodore Series II:

“It was great to get back behind the wheel today. It was a little greasy out there so I just took it easy and worked through our program ahead of the qualifying races tomorrow.”

James Courtney, #22 Holden Racing Team Holden VE Commodore Series II:

“Practice went pretty well today –the overall balance of the car is good but we have a few adjustments to make to improve our outright pace. We’ll make some improvements overnight and see how we go in practice 4 tomorrow morning.”

Cam McConville, #22 Holden Racing Team Holden VE Commodore Series II:

“I think we have a good car this weekend –it was good out of the gate and we’ve shown some good pace. The direction of the car is certainly encouraging we’re looking forward to getting out there on some fresher tyres for tomorrow’s qualifying run.”
