Blockage Halts Wall’s Progress

Nearly stalling on the grid saw David Wall’s good qualifying vanish in a flash at Sydney Motorsport Park today but the Wilson Security Racing driver recovered to finish 18th.

The result could have been even better but for a frustrating encounter with James Moffatt, who repeatedly knocked into Wall in the closing stages of the 36-lap race.

Wall says that with a better start tomorrow he is confident he can crack the top 15. Qualifying starts at 12.25pm.

“Our biggest problem today was the start. The lights seemed to be on forever and when they finally went off the clutch just went to the floor. I was stranded, just trying not to stall in front of everybody. We lost all our good work from qualifying in one millisecond and ended up finishing one place better than we started, but we got that the hard way.

“I could have finished better but got held up by James Moffatt. I thought I was very fair and patient for about eight laps and gave him room but he still managed to drive into me even in a straight line. I don’t think any of it was called for and he probably only cost himself time by doing it.

“I’m much happier with the car and looking forward to tomorrow. I’ve got some left on the table for qualifying and definitely for the start so if that all comes together we’ll have a better result again.”
