Fabian Coulthard has made it two wins from two starts with back-to-back victories in the MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge at Albert Park.

Starting on pole, Coulthard got off to a strong start, but again found himself behind after the compulsory pitstops, emerging behind the Red Bull Holden of Craig Lowndes on lap four.

The Lockwood Racing driver soon closed the gap and reclaimed the lead with three laps to go, finishing more than two seconds ahead of Lowndes with Brad Jones Racing teammate Jason Bright in third. Contact between Lowndes and Bright in pit-lane is being investigated by officials after Lowndes appeared to have been released unsafely into Bright’s path.

Will Davison finished in fourth while Nissan Motorsport’s James Moffat gave the Altima V8 Supercar its best result yet coming home fifth place ahead of Scott McLaughlin, David Reynolds, Todd Kelly, Shane van Gisbergen and James Courtney.

The frustration continued at Red Bull Racing after Jamie Whincup was given a drive-through for spinning his rear wheels during his pitstop. Whincup had been running fourth but dropped to the back of the pack after the penalty, losing more time when he ran through the gravel and finishing 25th.

The results of Race Two set the grid for the third of the four V8 Supercars races which takes place on Saturday.
