The Holden Racing Team fourth and ninth in today’s Sandown 500

The Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander and Nick Percat have finished fourth in today’s 161-lap race for the Dick Smith Sandown 500.

Teammates James Courtney and Cam McConville also finished inside the top 10 taking the chequered flag in a well deserved ninth place.

In what was a relatively uneventful race, both driver combinations battled hard for position within the top 10. However despite their best efforts, neither car #2 nor car #22 had the outright speed to push forward to challenge for a place on the podium.

The team will now continue preparations to defend their Bathurst 1000 title at what will be the 50th running of the ‘Great Race’ when the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship continues in three weeks time.

Garth Tander, #2 Holden Racing Team Holden VE Commodore Series II:

“Fourth was a pretty good result for us. Nick did a great job and handed the car to me in a solid position. I pressed on and managed to gain a few spots but we didn’t have the overall car speed to catch and mix it with the front runners.”

“We’re looking ahead to Bathurst now where we will be working hard to defend our title – it’s the 50th running of the ‘Great Race’ and we’re confident of putting on a good show.”
