FPR and Triple Eight have dominated this year’s V8 Supercar Championship but Team BOC’s Jason Bright added a new flavour to the mix in qualifying today.
Bright started third for this afternoon’s 56-lap race, right in the middle of the two powerhouses, but could not capitalise during the race thanks to wheel-spin off the startline.
He recovered to finish eighth but could not hide his disappointment, saying the team’s pace was worth fourth-place at worst.
The Season of Endurance gets underway at the next V8 Supercar round at Sandown Motor Raceway from September 14-16.

“It was a very good lap in qualifying but, once I got to a decent point, I didn’t want to throw away a top-five start so I didn’t wring the car’s neck for the last corner.
“We had that pace a couple of rounds ago and it slipped away from us. Eastern Creek is certainly the closest style circuit to Perth and Phillip Island so we can’t get too carried away but we’ve definitely learned something this weekend. There are some things in the car that we need to take to the tighter tracks and make work.
“I got wheel-spin off the start and bogged the car trying to control it. Then it was just a disaster. I got mauled at Turn Two because you’re on the defence not the attack. The first couple of corners were a disaster. It’s a real shame because I still believe we had the pace to finish fourth at worst and we didn’t get to show it because of the bad start.”
