Today’s longer 56-lap race of the Sydney Motor Sport Park 360 has seen the Holden Racing Team’s Gather Tander finish ninth while teammate, James Courtney, followed close behind in 10th position – both drivers inside the top 10 for the second time this weekend.
In qualifying earlier, Tander posted the seventh fastest time of the session while Courtney featured a little further down the order in 13th place.
Both drivers worked off a different tyre strategy for this afternoon’s 220km race – Tander started on the hard compound control tyre while Courtney elected to start on the soft compound option.
The race saw both drivers battle hard for position within the top 10 but despite their best efforts, neither Tander or Courtney had the outright car speed to push forward into the sharp end of the field.
The team has drawn many positives from this weekend and will now prepare for their fourth scheduled test day at Winton Motor Raceway in just over a weeks time ahead of the Season of Endurance which will get underway with the Dick Smith Sandown 500 from 14-16 September.
