New Zealand V8 Supercars team Super Black Racing has announced the appointment of Paul Radisich as its team principal.

The New Zealand racing star and former double world touring car champion will draw upon his extensive experience in V8 Supercars to provide the team with additional support and mentoring when it makes its full championship debut this season.

Super Black Racing will be on the grid with Prodrive Racing Australia in 2015 with 19-year-old New Zealander Andre Heimgartner behind the wheel of the #111 Ford Falcon.

“Having been a young driver trying to make it on the international scene in the past, I know very well how the Super Black programme will inspire a whole new generation of New Zealand drivers and as principal of this team, I know my V8 experience can and will be put to the best use,” said Radisich

“I feel fiercely patriotic about our entry and am excited we’ve got some terrific foundations and motivations underpinning this campaign. Like the rest of the crew, I’m chomping at the bit to get on the grid in Adelaide.”

Originally from Auckland, Radisich made his name on the international circuit after winning the Touring Car World Cup in 1993 and 1994 and spent nine years in the V8 Supercars championship with Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing, Team Kiwi Racing and Toll HSV Racing.

“Paul has been involved with Super Black Racing from the start and has already been a major help to us, so to officially have him involved this season is great,” said Super Black Racing owner Tony Lentino.

“So now that we’ve got Prodrive Racing (PRA) and Paul [Radisich] both behind us, we’re sure we have the right formula to give this thing a good go.”
