Powering around Queensland Raceway was no preparation for the extreme nature of Surfers Paradise Street Circuit according to Wilson Security Racing’s Jamie Campbell-Walter.
The British sports car driver, who will partner David Wall in this weekend’s two 300km endurance races, attended a test day at Queensland Raceway earlier this week but today was his first taste of the unforgiving Gold Coast street track.
Every lap was a confidence booster but, with only two practice sessions at his disposal, Campbell-Walter says he still has a steep mountain to climb in tomorrow’s race, which starts at 13.40.

“It’s great to get this opportunity to not only compete in Australia but to also drive a V8 Supercar for the very first time.
“At the test day a couple of days ago at Queensland Raceway, I felt fairly comfortable in the car and I did some fast and consistent lap times. At this tight circuit it’s a bit of a different story though and confidence is definitely the key to this concrete canyon.
“I want more and more time in the car. The more kilometres I can clock-up, the more confident I become.”
