Jack Perkins is the latest driver change ahead of the Coates Hire Sydney 500 replacing injured Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport driver Nick Percat for this weekend’s V8 Supercars season finale.

Perkins got the call up to drive for Lucas Dumbrell Racing while working on his family farm in Victoria with Nick Percat still ruled out due to the blood infection that also saw him withdrawn from the Phillip Island SuperSprint.

Paul Dumbrell stood in for Percat at the Phillip Island round, but the Eggleston Motorsport driver will focus on his Dunlop Series duties for the final event of the season.

Perkins scored his debut win in this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup partnering up with James Courtney at the Gold Coast 600, and replaced Courtney in the Holden Racing Team’s #22 entry for three events after Courtney sustained a rib injury at Sydney Motorsport Park in August.

“It is not a nice way to get a call up at someone else’s expense, but I seem to be making a habit of it,” Perkins told Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph.

“They contacted because they wanted me to do a job and that’s why I will be doing.

“It is not a job audition or anything like that and I am just going out to get some good results for the team.”

Percat is expected to attend the Sydney finale to lend his support to Perkins and the team.
