Turn Two was a concertina at Sydney Motorsport Park today, catching Wilson Security Racing’s David Wall unawares as he busily capitalised on a great start.
Wall, who had started 20th, was up into the top 15 when the field contracted sharply on the first lap leaving him with nowhere to go.
The resulting contact saw him in and out of the pits for the entire 56-lap race, which he finished 28th, a lap down.
The Season of Endurance gets underway at the next V8 Supercar round at Sandown Motor Raceway from September 14-16.

“I had a really good start but the field compressed in the middle of Turn One. I jumped on the brake to avoid the back of Steven Johnson and it sent me to the right, which is where Tim Slade was. I ended up cutting a tyre, which started deflating, and I had to pit.
“After that we just didn’t put any decent tyres on and limped home, which is a shame because I think our strategy would have played out pretty well for us having watched how the race panned out, but it was not to be.
“In qualifying I did my soft lap early and sacrificed the advantage of waiting until the track rubbers up. We were hoping the guys that came out later wouldn’t get as clear a lap as I did whilst everyone was in the pits. My lap was pretty good and we were good for a high 1m29s, which would have put us around the top 14, but the front tyre pressures went up and that’s the difference between 20th and 14th.”
